Movie of the Week - Night on Earth By Jim Jarmusch

Night on Earth is 1991 movie written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. It is a collection of five vignettes each from different city - Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Rome and Helsinki. The stories take place in one night and mostly consist of conversations between taxi drivers and their passengers. The whole movie is made up of little moments where we see people with social/racial/cultural differences bonding, being vulnerable and speaking their minds. This movie reminds us that some of us are successful, some miserable, killing pain with alcohol, we have different views on life, different plans and we all feel things differently but at the end of the day all we need is each other - a shoulder to cry on, someone to show us the right way, cheer us up or tell us that everything could be worse.
My favorite segment is one set in Los Angeles. Maybe that's because I was thrilled to see Winona Ryder driving cab dressed up as a tomboy. I absolutely loved her character - Corky, her attitude, determination, dreams and views on life.
If you haven't seen this movie you totally should!
