Movie of the Week - Kon - Tiki

This is an incredible story about an explorer who started famous Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947. He risked everything including his safety and marriage in order to prove the theory that it was South Americans who first settled in Polynesia. He firmly believed he was right and got utterly disappointed when his theory got rejected but didn't give up. Thor Heyerdahl set up a crew of five, built a boat similar to the ones South Americans used when they first sailed to Polynesia and made all the way through Pacific Ocean from Peru to Polynesia. Explorers went through horrors including storms and shark attacks but survived everything and proved that they were right all along. The moral of the story is that you should fight for your beliefs to the end and never get discouraged by non-believers.
The movie is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. It is the most expensive film ever made in Norway and the highest-grossing of 2012. It is nominated for the best foreign language Oscar and Golden Globe award.
I'm not a big fan of historical dramas and adventure movies but this one really got me interested because of an incredible plot and the fact that it is based on a true story. It is amazing that someone really made all that way for his beliefs.
We recommend this movie to our readers. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
